ABOUT MY SCULPTURES
This page showcases a couple of my reclaimed wood sculptures including wood from reclaimed sea groynes and sleepers. They are made to order and may be filled with glass of your choice. I will always do my best to make your piece as special as possible. One was commissioned by a client who has meaningful connections to Brighton so I was excited to be able to include some very special glass from Brighton’s Palace Pier in the piece.
Available with a steel base and other fixing options such as reinforced bars to be sunk into the ground.
HOW THEY’RE MADE
Once the timber is selected I work with the wood to rout out a shape from the centre which compliments the shape of the wood. After discussing colour choices I decide on the shapes to cut the coloured and textures glass to fit into the timber. This is then leaded up, soldered and cemented with home made glaziers cement, otherwise known as putty. I partly clean it and then It has to be left for a few days to dry. After this I polish and clean it again. Once it’s completely clean I mount it in the wood using glazing pins and silicone to match the colour of the polished lead.
