ABOUT THIS PIECE
This piece is inspired by the patterns left in the sand as the tide goes out on the beach near my home and the tiny bits of gravel, shell and pebble which are left behind and influence the shapes which remain carved lightly into the sand. A unique handmade stained glass art work which may be used as a suncatcher or installed in a door or window.
Glass comes to life when light shines through it. The colours and textures are beautifully illuminated when hanging in a window, catching the light or hung as a decoration. The light emphasises the unique qualities of each piece of glass, the textures, air bubbles (seeds) and waves (reams) in each sheet of glass. I actively look for these qualities to use in my work.
HOW IT’S MADE
I have made this using the traditional leaded glass technique employing different shades, patterns and textures of stained glass and finished to be completely weather proof.
